Southern Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs are the Deep South’s most reliable party food — hard-boiled eggs with creamy, tangy, mustard-kissed yolks, piped back into the whites and finished with a dusting of paprika. No potluck is complete without them.

Chef Emily presents Southern Deviled Eggs

The potluck essential

Hard-boiled eggs filled with creamy, tangy mustard-kissed yolks and dusted with paprika — Southern deviled eggs.

Step by stepInstructions

  1. Place the eggs in a pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat, cover, and let sit 12 minutes. Cool in ice water and peel.
  2. Halve the eggs lengthwise and transfer the yolks to a bowl. Mash the yolks with the mayonnaise, mustards, vinegar, salt, pepper, and cayenne until smooth.
  3. Spoon or pipe the filling into the egg whites.
  4. Dust with paprika and garnish with chives.
  5. Chill until serving.

💡 Chef tips & storage

Add the yolks to a bowl while still warm and mash immediately for the smoothest filling. Pipe the filling for a professional look, and dust with paprika just before serving.
