Louisiana crab cakes are all about the crab — generous lumps of sweet Gulf crab meat bound with just enough seasoned breadcrumbs to hold together, then pan-fried golden and served with rémoulade. They’re the coastal appetizer done right.

Chef Emily presents Louisiana Crab Cakes

All crab, no filler

Lump Gulf crab meat lightly bound and pan-fried golden, served with tangy rémoulade.

Step by stepInstructions

  1. Gently combine the crab, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire, Cajun seasoning, bell pepper, and parsley. Shape into 6 cakes and chill 30 minutes.
  2. Dredge each cake lightly in flour.
  3. Heat the butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook the cakes 3-4 minutes per side until golden and heated through.
  5. Serve with rémoulade.

💡 Chef tips & storage

Pick through the crab meat for shells, and handle the cakes gently — you want big lumps intact. Chilling the formed cakes 30 minutes helps them hold together while frying.
