Creamy smoked salmon chowder with corn, potatoes and dill

A rich, smoky chowder made with flaked smoked salmon, potatoes, and cream.

Smoke meets cream

Alder-smoked salmon gives this chowder a deep, woodsy character — creamy, smoky, and deeply satisfying.

Step by stepInstructions

  1. Melt the butter in a pot and cook the onion and celery until soft, about 6 minutes.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook 2 minutes; gradually whisk in the broth.
  3. Add the potatoes and simmer until tender, about 12 minutes.
  4. Stir in the milk and cream and simmer 5 minutes.
  5. Fold in the smoked salmon and dill; heat through gently (don't boil). Season with salt and pepper and serve with chives.

💡 Chef tips & storage

Add the smoked salmon at the end — it's already cooked, and boiling will make it tough. Serve with crusty bread for dipping.
