Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers

Jalapeño poppers trace back to Tex-Mex cuisine of the American Southwest, where stuffed and fried chiles have long been popular. The bacon-wrapped, oven-baked version gained widespread popularity in the 1990s and 2000s as a favorite at backyard barbecues and sports-watching gatherings across the country.

Spicy, smoky, and always the first to disappear

Fresh jalapeños are stuffed with a creamy cheese filling, wrapped in bacon, and baked until the bacon crisps and the peppers soften.

Step by stepInstructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C and line a baking sheet with foil.
  2. Mix the cream cheese, cheddar, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  3. Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture.
  4. Wrap each stuffed half with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  5. Bake 20-25 minutes until the bacon is crisp.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.

💡 Chef tips & storage

Wear gloves when seeding the jalapeños to avoid irritation. For less heat, remove the white membrane completely, which holds most of the spice.
