The hot dog bar is pure Americana — a backyard tradition where everyone builds their own perfect dog. From the classic mustard-and-relish combo to a fully loaded chili-cheese, it’s the easiest way to feed a crowd and make everyone happy.

Build your own — the classic toppings bar

Griddled until blistered, tucked into toasted buns, and piled with whatever you love most: this all-American hot dog bar turns a weeknight dinner into a party.

Step by stepInstructions

  1. Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Cook the hot dogs, turning often, until browned and blistered on all sides, about 6-8 minutes.
  2. While the dogs cook, butter the inside of each bun and toast on the griddle until golden, about 1 minute per side.
  3. Arrange the toppings in small bowls so everyone can build their own.
  4. Serve hot with tongs and plenty of napkins — let everyone load up their dog their own way.

💡 Chef tips & storage

Grilled onions are a game-changer: slice 2 onions, cook low and slow in a pat of butter for 15 minutes until jammy and sweet. For a kid-friendly night, offer just ketchup, mustard, and cheese — simplicity wins.
