Soul food deviled eggs with paprika

Hard-boiled eggs filled with a creamy, tangy, mustard-spiced yolk mixture, topped with paprika.

The cookout essential

Perfectly boiled eggs with a velvety, mustardy yolk filling — the platter that always empties first.

Step by stepInstructions

  1. Place the eggs in a pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil; cover and remove from heat. Let stand 12 minutes, then cool in ice water.
  2. Peel the eggs, halve lengthwise, and pop out the yolks into a bowl.
  3. Mash the yolks with the mayonnaise, mustards, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until smooth.
  4. Pipe or spoon the filling into the whites.
  5. Dust with paprika and top with chives. Chill until serving.

💡 Chef tips & storage

The 12-minute off-heat method gives perfectly cooked yolks. For a soul food twist, add a pinch of cayenne to the filling.
